URI

Definition

The term ‘URI’, which stands for Uniform Resource Identifier, serves as a general term for a string of characters used to identify a resource or name on the Internet. It provides a simple and extensible means for identifying a resource. There are two types of URIs: a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and a URN (Uniform Resource Name). While a URL specifies a location of a resource on the internet, a URN denotes the name of the resource in a given namespace.
